Second Post

I selected this topic because it is something that I will have to teach after I graduate and start teaching. I beleive that lessons plans, including this one, make the job of the teacher that much easier and less stressful.

SUBJECT
Music

GRADE
6-7

OBJECTIVES
Student will learn specific note names and how to identify these notes on a music staff.

STANDARDS
TEKS 117.33

MATERIALS
Worksheet, projector, computer with Powerpoint, eager students!

PROCEDUES
1) Students will be taught the helpful acronyms Every Good Boy Does Fine, and FACE in order to help them learn and identify the different note names on the treble clef music staff.
2)Students will be taught he acronym Good Boys Do Fine Always and All Cows Eat Grass in order to help them identify and learn the different note names on the bass clef staff.
3) Students will be given an worksheet and be allowed to work together in order to identify note names on the worksheet.
4) Students will be given a homework assignment that will need to be completed by the next class period in order to make sure that all students understand the material presented.

I don't know what we're supposed to comment about. Looks good, I remember the EGBDF & FACE from my years as a trumpet player in middle school. Looks like a decent lesson from said timeline in a student's musical learnings.

I loved the fact that one of the materials was "eager students". That was a very nice touch. As a former band nerd I know how useful this information is to new band students. Great job!

This is a good lesson plan you have put together. I use to be in band so i know where you are comming from. Good information about band music.

I liking it, i was in band once, in 6 grade, wasn't for me ( i had a heard time keeping up) i like the idea of introducing acronyms to help your students learn.

I do not know much about music, but this lesson seemed like a fun and easy way to notes on music staff. Super Dooper Job!!

Hey Loren! I really enjoyed your blogpost. I remember when I used to have to remember the different notes when I was in choir in high school and here in college. I think it is creative and fun. The part that I like best was the whole lesson because I am into music and it interests me. Your lesson is about music and mine is about playing a sport. I don't think the format would need to be changed, just the information. Great job Loren!
